They have been called the “hot-button” issues among evangelicals and/or social conservatives: same sex-marriage and abortion.  Shortly after McCain and Obama were presumed to be their respective parties nominees both were invited to be interviewed at the Saddleback Church in southern California by pastor and author Rick Warren.  Both presumed nominees were pressed on these issues.

It is not however, the position of neither one of these presidential candidates that has me distressed.  I have read through pages of articles by conservative Christian ministries and groups appalled by laws being passed in Massachusetts and California.

And now according to an article written by Lea Turhune on www.america.gov, the agenda of Evangelicals has replaced the above issues with poverty and global warming.

Not for a moment can I say I don’t care about the sanctity of life or caring for this globe, because I do.  But when will we as Christians get it?  Aren’t these all symptoms? Instead of boycotting McDonalds because they support a questionable organization, shouldn’t we be giving a solution? The Sabbath was given as a memorial to worship the creator of this globe, of life, and of marriage.  No wonder the world can’t figure these things out, we are hiding the God-given reminder. And in a very real sense we, the Christian community, are more at fault than anyone else.  “To whom much is given, from him much will be required.” Luke 12:48

The Biblical “hot-button” issues, for as long as time shall last, are the law and gospel of God.
