THE UNCHANGEABLE

It’s funny how we just assume

That things will stay the same:

The place in which we find ourselves,

The friends we know by name.

And yet, it seems, through passing years

That time somehow erases

The thing that once were meaningful

While others take their places

Conditions change, and so do we.

The things we once esteemed

Are soon replaced by other things

Of which we hardly dreamed.

For life is fluid, changeable.

We’re molded by its touch,

And time will cause us to release

The things within our clutch.

But one thing is unchangeable,

Its essence will endure:

The Word of God eternal stands

Unmoved, unscathed, secure.
