Chicken Little almost has it right with her cry “the sky is falling.”  Last Sunday the FAA logged several reports from Dallas to Austin of a fireball falling from the sky, an event that was even recorded on camera by a local reporter. Although some have tied this with the satellite collision last week, it is still being considered an unidentified flying object. Then this week workers in a New Jersey furniture warehouse were surprised when a hot, 8 pound metal object crashed through the roof, landing just feet from were the co-owner was working.  Although initially thought to have come from an airplane, investigators have tracked its origin to a nearby wood plant.

When Scott Curkin with ABC, reported that more people are looking up at the sky because of this, I was reminded the two angels on top of Mt. Olivet talking to the disciples:  “Why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:12

I am just as much looking forward to the apocalypse as any other adventist.  And I am certain we have Biblical reminders to keep this as our goal.  However the reminder of from the angels seems to be, don’t misuse your time by focusing on the sky, go pray for the gift of the Holy Spirit, sharing the gospel with all.

I am sure, even more this week than ever before, Jesus is coming again.  That being clear, take your eyes of the sky, and by the power that you will get through prayer, be a missionary: all about people.
