Pastor's Blog - 2009/05/30
So you’re a Christian!? You have dedicated your life to letting Jesus grow you, change you, use you… but then…
In John 13 Peter had dedicated his life to Jesus and in verse 37 Peter tells Jesus that he (Peter) will follow Him (Jesus) no matter what. You and I along with Jesus all know that Peter was just about to deny Jesus. We all know that he was about to make “a wrong turn,” and Jesus reminds Peter of this: “the rooster shall not crow till you have denied Me three times.” (vs. 38) This is the last verse of John 13, and the very next thing Jesus says (still talking to Peter) is – “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” (John 14:1-3) Right after Jesus tells Peter that he will “commit a sin,” He continues by telling him to not be troubled, but to continue with his belief it will work out.
Be like Peter! Make your decision to follow Jesus – but know that when and if you make a wrong decision in life, like choosing to go to a school and later realizing that is not where God was leading you. Or if after making your decision to follow Jesus you make a bad decision and commit a sin (like Peter did), you are not forgotten. Jesus still has a plan, a goal, for your life. You keep believing in Jesus – He will keep preparing a place for you in heaven.
