Pastor's Blog - 04/12/2008
.
After a late evening jog one day this week, I took advantage of my warm body temperature and collapsed onto my lawn. Along with listening to music, I often whisper prayers while I run. This particular night being no exception, I had prayed for guidance. Lying on my back, looking up, I felt reassurance in watching the wind blow through the tree. Reflecting on my quest to follow God and the inner assurance that came through watching the tree, I thought of the lyrics of a hymn – “in the rustling grass I hear Him pass…” If your questions are anything like mine, then no doubt you too wonder if He passes you. I know He does... but maybe we need to get at "eye level" with the grass or watch the trees.

Richard Foster in Celebration of Discipline (97) writes: “Inward solitude has outward manifestations. There is freedom to be alone, not in order to be away from people but in order to hear the divine Whisper better.” This week our sermon series leads us to see that our own Creator saw it best to start His relationship with us in a garden, and then while on earth, He maintained his relationship by returning to the garden.
