Pastor's Blog - 05/10/2008
.
This Sabbath we begin our odyssey into understanding the definition of Christianity.  From my vantage point, I report that either we have forgotten or have never understood many of the basics.  My only regret is that moving on to a new series we will have to adjust our emphasis from wrestling with God and climbing mountains. I fear that my own weak self and/or others in our community of faith will forget where we have just come from – that the “greatest victories won to the individual Christian or to the Church of Christ are not those victories gained by talent or education, by wealth or the favor of man; they are those victories gained in the audience chamber with God.”

I had a chance in a bookstore last week to pick up a book by Beth Moore.  I have only made it to the third chapter; but the book became worth its sale price by the 6th page.  I have salivated on only two lines – let me share:  “We have no idea how busy God’s hands are even when His mouth seems closed.  Where God is concerned, silence never equals slumber.”  These lines came to life last evening as I watched the sunset.  The sun slipped behind the clouds and under the horizon while detonating into beauty… and it all happened without a sound.

Right now, God is silently working on the petition you have cried to Him.
