I cried. I cried after receiving the news that a personal friend and a leader in the church revealed a secret life of sin. I was once again reminded how horrible the devil is and how vulnerable we could be to falling for his lies.
The doubt of whether the church, the body Christ, would be ready when He comes to take us home returned. Is it possible? Then I was reminded: “The church will be ready – not when the bad become so bad, but rather when the faithful become so faithful.” It is not about how bad people have become, but it’s all about how faithful God’s chosen are – it depends on us.
During the Battle of Gettysburg, Colonel Vincent instructed Lt. Colonel Chamberlain “...I place you here! This is the left of the Union line. You understand. You are to hold this ground at all hazards...” If the Confederate forces were able to flank his position, they would gain the rear of the entire Union line with disastrous results and be positioned between the Union Army and the capital in Washington. Chamberlain was the end of the line – He had to hold it!
We, my fellow Christians and faith community, are the end of the line. Please don’t be passive about being faithful to what is good and right. There is a line, we need to hold it… at all cost!
